CHANGCHUN, April 8 (Xinhua) — On April 8, Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade officially released its April-themed poster titled Apricot Blossoms Dancing Amid Ice and Snow, Youth Forging Winter Dreams.
In April in Changchun, apricot blossoms begin to bloom while traces of snow still linger. Drawing inspiration from the unique scenery of “apricot blossoms against snow” in Changchun during this season, the poster features snow-dusted apricot branches in full bloom, accompanied by the lively mascots of Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade, “Ji Bing” “and”Ji Xue”, perfectly blending the vitality of spring with the passion of ice and snow sports.(Photo provided by the Press and Publicity Department of the Executive Committee of Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade)
Changchun is renowned as the “Spring City of Northern China”. Apricot blossoms blooming across the city in April serve as an iconic spring scene, while ice and snow represent the soul of winter sports in the city. By integrating the seemingly contrasting yet naturally coexisting images of apricot blossoms and ice and snow, the poster accurately conveys the city’s distinctive character and strengthens the regional identity of the Winter Universiade.
The core visual element of the poster is the snow-covered apricot branch at the center of the frame, acting as both the focal point and the carrier of the key imagery. Winding white lines connect the branches and the entire composition, resembling the sleek curves of ski slopes as well as the trail of spring breeze, enhancing the dynamic sense of “dancing” and lending the image a sense of rhythm and fluidity.
The two cartoon mascots perched on the branches embody the youthful spirit of Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade. The main color palette consists of gradient blue and white, with crisp icy blue as the base and pure white as an accent, creating a sense of freshness and purity typical of an icy wonderland that aligns with the atmosphere of winter sports. Soft apricot pink and warm red are used as decorative colors: the pale pink of apricot blossoms and the warm red of the mascots infuse the cool-toned design with the warmth of spring and the vitality of youth, achieving a balanced contrast between cold ice and snow and warm youthful energy, and enriching the visual layers and warmth of the poster.
Scheduled to be held in Changchun and Jilin cities from January 15 to 25, 2027, Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade marks the return of the FISU World University Winter Games to China following the 2009 Harbin edition. It will serve as a broad platform for young people from around the world to exchange ideas, learn from each other and pursue their dreams together.
